ICSE Class 10 Physics and Chemistry School Papers Guide

Practise ICSE Class 10 Physics and Chemistry previous-year school papers with a method for numericals, equations, observations and explanations.

ICSEPhysicsChemistryClass 10

Students frequently search separately for ICSE Class 10 Physics previous year question papers and ICSE Class 10 Chemistry previous year question papers. Practising both subjects with the same correction routine can be efficient, but the skills being tested are different.

Physics papers expose weaknesses in formula selection, diagrams and reasoning. Chemistry papers test accurate equations, observations, conditions, conversions and scientific language. A combined plan should respect those differences.

Finding useful ICSE school papers

In the AAC Paper Vault, filter by ICSE, Class 10, subject, school and year. Select papers with readable pages and clear labels. A prelim or selection paper from another school is additional practice; it is not an official prediction of the board paper.

Check the latest syllabus and official specimen format before treating any older school paper as a complete mock. CISCE’s 2026 announcement included specimen papers and answer keys for Physics (Science Paper 1) and Chemistry (Science Paper 2), alongside other subjects. See the official CISCE circular for the stated examination year.

How to analyse an ICSE Physics paper

Divide each question into one of five skill groups:

Concepts and definitions

Check whether your definition contains the necessary scientific condition, not merely a familiar phrase. Rewrite weak definitions in one precise sentence.

Reasoning questions

Begin with the relevant principle, connect it to the situation, and then state the conclusion. Avoid giving an observation without the reason behind it.

Numericals

Show the known quantities, formula, substitution, calculation and final unit. When checking, mark each stage separately so you know whether the failure was conceptual or arithmetic.

Diagrams

Practise ray diagrams, circuits and machine diagrams without copying. Check direction, symbols, labels and proportions.

Graphs and interpretation

Inspect axes, scale, units, plotted points and the meaning of the slope or shape. A visually neat graph can still be scientifically incomplete.

How to analyse an ICSE Chemistry paper

Use separate correction codes for:

  • incorrect or unbalanced equations;
  • missing reaction conditions;
  • confused observations and inferences;
  • wrong products in conversions;
  • imprecise definitions;
  • periodic-property reasoning;
  • calculation or mole-concept errors, where applicable to the syllabus.

Keep a reaction notebook containing only the equations and observations that you previously wrote incorrectly. Revisit it every few days rather than rereading an entire chapter.

A two-paper weekly routine

Every second week, replace the two timed sections with one complete paper in each subject.

What repeated topics really mean

A concept appearing in several school papers is worth revising, but repetition is not proof that it will appear in the board examination. Use frequency to find foundational topics, not to make predictions or skip the rest of the syllabus.

When solutions are unavailable

Verify equations and definitions from the prescribed textbook and class material. For numerical methods and descriptive answers, ask a teacher to check work where the marking is uncertain. An unverified answer key can reinforce exactly the mistake you are trying to remove.
